I’m Josh, a writer and idea person living in Little Rock. My best attribute is pathological enthusiasm. Whatever your project, consider me obsessed until it’s done.

Broadcast tV

While my background is mostly in digital, I've been fortunate to be involved in all aspects of Broadcast TV production. From concepting to writing, casting to prop creation and so on, I was deeply in the weeds on all the following projects. Chaotic, high-stakes productions are my flow state, and I'm obsessed with the details.

Social Media

In the rapid-response world of social media, brands have some their most meaningful (and meaningless) interactions with audiences. The winning formula is engaging content and diligent social listening. Good brands come to life when you mention them, and good fans seek their attention.

livestream Broadcasts

When done right, livestream broadcasts can be algorithm-cracking, neutron stars of user engagement. Synthesizing pre-recorded content and live responsive engagement, each of the following broadcasts set new milestones for live engagement for the account. The most successful of these produced more than 20,000 comments in less than 20 minutes. All broadcasts were conducted and moderated by our in-house teams. Project descriptions and live links are featured below.

The first in an attempt to create a highly engaging, regular-interval event on Facebook Live, this 18-minute event produced more than 22,000 comments and an engagement-rate-per-impression over 2000%. The video was pre-recorded, but all audience engagement was live and handled by a team of 10 moderators, responsible for the real-time selection and notification of winners, a protocol for which I was responsible for creating while ensuring FCC compliance for the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.

With a limited budget and some non-negotiable, non-local talent to be featured at the client’s insistence (Barrett Baber), this 20-minute Facebook Live holiday special for the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery livestream broadcast was the most engaging in the client’s history at the time. A social media giveaway was launched in advance of the event on Facebook, and the winners were announced during the broadcast.

Social Media Contests

Contests and giveaways are potent brand tools for incentivizing user action and generating huge engagement spikes. I was responsible for developing the concepts, rules and writing for these contests. Each was part of a larger strategy of contest engagement for which I was largely responsible.

Brand activations

Successful brands don’t just live on shelves. They’re part of our lives. They exist out in the world. Brand activations let us share experiences directly with brands and the people who represent them. A whimsical installation, cool product demo or clever performance can change perceptions on the spot. Creating those experiences is one of my favorite things ever.

Print

With so many screens in our lives, print materials feel even more real to us. They're also extremely versatile. Publications reflect our aspirations when we take them home. Outdoor boards always catch us on the move. Posters encourage and inform us in a serious moment. Here are a few print projects I've worked on recently.

Radio

Contrary to popular belief, not all radio spots sound like the monster truck rally on Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! It is possible with time and proper voice talent, to push the boundaries of what people expect to hear. The result is more memorable and less annoying, at least in theory. You be the judge.
